My idea is to launch the Everyone Votes Campaign; far too many people are discouraged to vote and many more are ineligible to vote. Everyone Votes allows anyone who is ineligible to vote, to have a chance to voice their opinion. This includes young people under 18, undocumented people, and people on parole. We will be hosting voter registration drives and getting feedback on the propositions that are going to be on the 2012 ballot in California. Millennial's will participate in volenteerism, vote in the Everyone Votes Campaign and bring awareness around voting rights and the current propositions.
The Everyone Votes team will be participating at various events throughout the summer, also building coalition with different organizations, colleges, and businesses. Our plan is to host a day of voter awareness, do voter registration, and allow everyone to vote. When we vote we decide who will be running our government. We decide on the laws that will affect our communities and our future. When an unjust law is presented, we must vote. We Resist when we make our vote count. When a politician refuses to meet the needs of the people, We must vote! Vote at the polls, vote by mail, get your friends to vote. In this country, you Count, enforce your civil liberties and don't let anyone prevent you from voting.
Where does your project take place?: Our focus is the City of Los Angeles and the Greater Los Angeles area.
